Manchester City Women have appointed Andree Jeglertz as head coach of their women's team. The 53-year-old, who is currently in charge of Denmark at the Euros in Switzerland, has signed a four-year deal. Jeglertz will remain in charge of the national team until the end of the tournament. His side play their first game in Group C against Sweden on Friday. He replaces Gareth Taylor, who parted ways with City in March when the side were fourth in the Women's Super League, 12 points off leaders Chelsea. City finished the season in the same position with interim manager Nick Cushing, 17 points off Chelsea, one point shy of third and qualifying for Champions League football despite finishing with a five-game unbeaten run. Jeglertz said in a statement after his appointment was confirmed that Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world and he aims to continue the job that's been done and take it to the next level. Manchester City Women director of football Therese Sjogran said Andree brings a wealth of experience at the top of the game as well as a real hunger to drive Manchester City forward. Jeglertz has a 22-year-long managerial career and won the UEFA Women's Cup in 2004 with a Umea side that included Brazil legend Marta. As well as success with Umea in his native Sweden, Jeglertz has also taken charge of the Djurgardens men's team and the Finnish women's national side. His replacement as Denmark head coach will be Jakob Michelsen. The appointment of Jeglertz is expected to bring a new era of success to Manchester City Women, who are looking to improve their standings in the Women's Super League. With Jeglertz's experience and ambition, the club is hoping to attract new fans and achieve great things in the upcoming season. The Women's Super League is one of the most competitive leagues in women's football, and Manchester City Women will be looking to challenge the likes of Chelsea and other top teams. Jeglertz's appointment is a significant step forward for the club, and fans will be eagerly awaiting the new season to see how the team performs under his leadership.
